Xosha Roquemore is an American TV & Movie actress. She is known for her role as Jo Ann in Academy award winning drama movie Precious(2009).

Xosha Roquemore was born as Xosha (pronunciation: Zo-sha; meaning: sought after) Kai Roquemore on 11th December 1984 in Los Angeles, California. Her father is a director.

Xosha Roquemore has a boyfriend named Lakeith Stanfield, they have a child(boy) together (born on June 22nd 2017).

Career

Xosha worked in a short movie named Shades of Brooklyn(2008) as Allison. 

Xosha's role as Jo Ann in Academy award winning movie Precious(2009) brought her to the limelight.

Some of the popular movies she has been part of are: Rivers Wash Over Me(2009), Price Check(2012), G.B.F.(2013), The Butler(2013).

She has guest starred in TV series like: Viralcom(2008), Nurse Jackie(2010), 10 Things I Hate About You(2010), Law & Order: Criminal Intent(2010), My Boys(2010), Playing With Guns(2010), Rescue Me(2011), Southland(2012), Kirstie(2013), 

She is popular on TV for her regular appearances on The Mindy Project(2013-) as Tamara. Her role became a main role in the second season.

• Xosha used to have a thick curly hair, she didn't like it when she was young, she has now grown to appreciate her natural hair.

• The first chosen name for the character Tamara in the TV series The Mindy Project(2013-) was actually Xosha, same as the actress chosen for the role, however, they later changed to Tamara.
• She likes to sing and dance in real life, she has that in common with her character Tamara in the TV series The Mindy Project(2013-).
• She is democratic party supporter, supported Obama in 2008 elections.
