Madelaine Petsch is an American TV & movie actress. Madelaine Petsch plays the popular role of Cheryl Blossom in the Crime Drama series Riverdale. 

Her recent appearances include playing Georgia in Hotel for the Holidays(2022), Clementine Pratt in About Fate(2022), Olivia in Jane(2022)

Childhood- Family

Madelaine Grobbelaar Petsch was born on 18th August 1994 in Port Orchard, Washington, United States to Michele Petsch(Mother) & Timothy Petsch(Father). She has an older brother named Shaun Petsch, he lives in Washington. She speaks Afrikaans. [2]

She has previously lived in South Africa. Her parents are from South Africa. She is probably of Dutch & German descent.

Her father wanted to name her Street, last part of her first name 'laine' is a play on word to make it closer to street.

Education

• High School: She studied at South Kitsap public High School in Port Orchard, Washington.
• Graduation: she studied at Tacoma School of the Arts (SOTA) Tacoma, Washington for her major in Arts.

She is trained in classical dancing (Tap dancing) and theater. She was a competitive dancer for 17 years.

Relationship

Travis Mills

Madelaine has been in relationship with the recording artist, Rapper and Actor Travis Mills Since May 2017. She learned Roller Blading with her boyfriend Travis Mills.

Career

Her love for acting began very early, she wanted to be a star since the age of 3. She worked in a coffee bar for a while to support her career as an actress. She has also worked at a design and decor company.

She previously worked as a executive consultant at a political firm, which she considers a weird job for her.

Her first ever acting role was as Magic Carpet in 'Aladdin Jr.'

She has a minor role in the sci-fi horror movie The Hive(2014)

In the nickelodeon family comedy series "Instant Mom" created by Warren Bell, Jessica Butler & Howard Michael Gould, she appeared as a mermaid in the episode "Gone Batty" (S3E25)

In the 2016 fantasy horror movie "The Curse of Sleeping Beauty" directed by Pearry Reginald Teo, she appears as Eliza.

F*&% the Prom(2017)

In the 2017 direct-to-video teen comedy movie F*&% the Prom, she played Marissa, the best friend of Maddy (played by Danielle Campbell) the expected prom queen. The story revovles around Marissa, her best friend Maddy, Maddy's boyfriend Kane(Cameron Palatas) who Marissa gets romantic with, Cole Reed (Joel Courtney) with whom Maddy reconnects, Cole, whom Marissa takes to prom.

In the 2019 horror movie Polaroid written and directed by Lars Klevberg, she plays Sarah, Sarah discovers a curious happening on a Polaroid camera photo. She gets attacked by an entity that was in the photo.

In the series "Acting for a Cause" she voiced the character Jane Bennet in the episode "Pride and Prejudice" (S2E2)

In the episode "The hateful Eight-year-olds"(S31E21) of the  animation series The Simpsons, she voiced the character Sloan.

Sightless(2019)

In the 2020 American psychological thriller film written and directed by Cooper Karl, she played Ellen Ashland, the lead character.

The story revolves around violinist Ellen Ashland who was brutally attacked in the parking lot and wakes up in the hospital blinded. Clayton, a nurse who claims to be appointed by her brother, appears. He helps her find an apartment, he helps her with things around the apartment, as she is finding hard to adjust to the new life after being blinded.

The mysterious happenings of the apartment scare her, she befriends a woman who thinks is the victim of marital violence, eventually she realizes that the apartment scene she imagines is al lcreated by Clayton, that he is the one keeping her in by tricking her.

Alexander Koch, December Ensminger, Lee Jones appear in other main roles.

The shadow diaries

In the drama thriller series The Shadow Diaries, she plays the pop star Eliza Gold, a childhood musical idol of Shana Secco (played by Kara Hayward). Shana and Eliza become friends, there is a demonic group called "The Divinity", who are influencing things with their mysterious abilities.

Nightwalkers

In the 2021 sci-fi short film written and directed by Mark Pellington, she plays one of the main roles, along with Alfie Allen, Marcia Battise, Peter Bogdanovich. It is an allegory about shame and addiction, the movie depicts alienation, melancholy and existential identity.

Jane (2022)

In the 2022 psychological thriller directed by Sabrina Jaglom, Madelaine plays Olivia Brooks. Chloe Bailey, Chloe Yu, Nina Bloomgarden appear in important roles.

Olivia Brooks is a high school senior struggling with the grief of a friend's loss. When she is deferred from the college she dreamed, she starts having panic attacks. She starts a social media attack against all those that she thought had wronged her. She starts embracing her darkest impulses.

In the 2022 romantic comedy About Fate directed by Maryus Vaysberg, Madelaine plays Clementine Pratt, a friend of Margot Hayes, the leading lady character. Clementine is an instagram influencer.

Hotel for the Holidays(2022)

In the romantic comedy film directed by Ron Oliver, Madelaine plays Georgia, a manager at the New York City's Hotel Fontaine. The story revolves around the staff and guests at the hotel during the christmas season. She is torn between Luke, the chef at the hotel and Raymond, a prince staying at the hotel.

Riverdale

In the mystery high school drama Riverdale, she plays Cheryl Blossom, a wealthy, traumatized, manipulative woman, a classmate of the lead character Archie Andrews (played by KJ Apa), She dated Toni Topaz (played by Vanessa Morgan) on and off. 

She plays a mean girl on Riverdale, people commented in hurtful ways on social media bout her. As a way of letting people see her real side Madelaine started making youtube videos, she has a huge following on youtube too.

She originally auditioned for the role of Betty Cooper, but the casting director thought she made a good Cheryl.

She is good friends with the other leading ladies of the show Lili Reinhart and Camila Mendes.
